I use these Claude skills to make more than 10% annual return without being a stock expert.

Hi, welcome back to my monthly portfolio reveal. I will do a monthly portfolio reveal, and the purpose of doing this is to put all the AI skills and prompts that I share in this community into a real test to prove the effectiveness of them.

Beware: you need to understand there is no AI that can guarantee a 100% winning rate, and it is not a get-rich-quick scheme in stock investing. We practise fundamental and value investing, so use it cautiously — the final decision is yours, not AI’s. This is just a sharing of my journey on experimentally using AI in my portfolio. It is not a buy/sell signal — all investments carry risk, so invest at your own risk.

Now let’s dive into my portfolio.

I had a pretty bad punch in June/July, as it was the first time I lost money in my portfolio after depending on AI for stock research — nearly 10% of my total profit at its peak.

Initially I was very panicked and did not know what to do, as I had never experienced losing money in the stock market. Yes, NEVER!

But after calming down and going through all the skills that I used to screen these stocks, I realised that most companies that I bought were based on good fundamentals and have potential for future growth. This also gave me the confidence that they would come back .

And they DID!

2 years ago I started using AI to help me research stocks. It went well. Well enough that by last month, I was quietly proud of the whole system — the prompts, the screening routine, the discipline of checking a thesis before buying. I’d built something that worked.

Then last month my portfolio went red. Not a rough week. Red. -$3,000, the first time in two years the number in front of it has had a minus sign.

It all started around the end of June 2, 2026.

The money isn’t what rattled me. It’s a small enough number that I can absorb it and move on. What rattled me was the question underneath it: if I’ve been leaning on AI this hard for two years, and it just led me into a loss, can I actually trust it with the next decision?

That question felt bigger than the loss itself. It’s a bit like finding out water might not be as good for you as you thought, after drinking it your whole life without a second thought. The thing you stopped questioning is suddenly the thing you have to question.

So instead of just moving on, I sat with it for a week. I went back through my prompts, my trade log, and the actual conversation where Claude and I talked through the stock that caused the drop.

Mapping out what actually happened

Here’s my best attempt at organizing this, because “AI got it wrong” is too simple and, honestly, not even accurate. The more I looked at my own trade log, the more it became clear that the AI didn’t fail , my process around the AI did. That’s a different problem, and a much more useful one, because it’s fixable.

I’m grouping what I learned into five patterns. The first two, I’d already half-learned before this month. The last one, I only really understood after re-reading my own chat history with Claude.

1. The Fluency Trap — mistaking a well-written answer for a correct one

2. AI Reads the Past, Not the Future — the blind spot every model shares

3. A Research Assistant Is Not a Risk Manager — a role AI was never playing, even though it felt like it was

4. Confidence Scores Aren’t Calibrated — how “sounds sure” and “is sure” get confused

5. The Real Skill Is the Question, Not the Answer — what changed in how I actually use Claude now

Let’s go through the first two properly, because they set up everything else.

1. The Fluency Trap

Claude , like any large language model , writes in complete, confident, well-structured sentences by default. That’s true whether it’s right or wrong. A shaky thesis and a solid one can read exactly the same: clean bullet points, a reasonable-sounding valuation argument, a tidy conclusion.

I didn’t consciously think “the AI is smart, so this must be correct.” But I noticed, going back through my own notes, that the more polished the AI’s answer looked, the less I pushed back on it. That’s the fluency trap: fluency is not the same thing as accuracy, but our brains process them as if they were.

The fix isn’t “trust AI less.” It’s treating a clean answer as the start of the checking process, not the end of it. If Claude gives me a thesis in five confident bullet points, my job is to go find the one bullet that’s doing the most work and stress-test just that one.

2. AI Reads the Past, Not the Future

This one is obvious when you say it out loud, and easy to forget when you’re mid-conversation with a tool that feels like it “understands” the company. Every model , Claude included , is reasoning from patterns in data that already happened. It can describe a company’s history, its filings, its past guidance, and the shape of similar situations before. It cannot see the regulatory decision that hasn’t been announced yet, or the guidance cut that hasn’t happened yet.

What I actually want from AI in this spot isn’t a prediction. It’s a structured way to think about the range of things that could happen next , which is a very different ask than “will this stock go up.”

The biggest loser is one of my US stocks, where it fell nearly 30%.

THE QUESTION:

The Dow fell 695 points, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended sharply lower to book their biggest percentage drops since 2025 — should I be worried just from reading the news headline?

this is just one small part of the whole analysis.

In summary, the recent fall is just part of the package of investing in stocks. It is always ups and downs — as long as the companies that you buy are not based on hype or FOMO, but are based on strong fundamentals and have great growth potential, you will be fine.

My goal this year was simple:

These are the stocks I bought on 17/12/2025.
Today is 18/1/2026, and it’s time to review the portfolio and remove the weakest one — currently down 6.42%.

I sold the stock at +10.36% on 13/1/2025 because I wasn’t confident it would continue to grow — and I was wrong!

Based on ValueFarm’s approach, I should sell the stock that’s down 6.42%, since it’s the weakest among these three.

However, the company’s fundamentals are still quite strong, so I’m still deciding whether to sell it or hold.

Welcome to 2026. I don’t have an investment philosophy, and I don’t have any big or motivational words to give you. The only thing I believe in and follow is Warren Buffett’s quote:

“If you aren’t willing to own a stock for 10 years, don’t even think about owning it for 10 minutes.”

“Never invest in a business you cannot understand.”

…and my own discipline: I do deep research on the fundamentals and the company’s future demand before deciding anything.

Lastly, if my intention is to buy a company just to get rich fast, I’ll skip it.

With AI, I can get data easily. However, if greed kicks in, I’ll go back to the principles above.

With a market cap of $69 billion, Republic Services operates as the second largest provider of non-hazardous solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, recycling, and energy services in the U.S.

Compared to Waste Management the , Republic focuses on scheduled pickup services such as:

• Residential customers (curbside trash and recycling).

• Commercial customers (dumpsters and containers for businesses).

• Industrial customers (specialized handling and roll-off containers).

As of Dec 31, 2024, the company operated through 367 collection operations, 248 transfer stations, 208 active landfills, 75 recycling centers, two treatment, recovery and disposal facilities, 23 treatment, storage and disposal facilities, 14 deep injection wells, 1 polymer center and 5 saltwater disposal wells, across the United States and Canada.

As of Dec 31, 2024,
